The "Hide-A-Hose 50' SmartSoc Central Vacuum Hose With Sock And Mini Cuff" replaced my ten year old version perfectly. I highly recommend it. The sock was getting worn and dirty. I have also had the sock disconnect twice from the far end of the hose, but with some work I have been able to put it back in place. This replacement hose has the newest connector fitting on it. The newest replacement attachment handle requires it. Since I had to replace the handle (for the third time) I decided to finally update the hose. The alternative is to take the hose attachment off the old handle and install in the replacement handle to make it compatable with the old hose. I was not doing that for a third time. (The handle grip breaks off the handle if "someone" drops it enough the wrong way). The new hose was worth the investment. You do not need to use the handle for all the attachments. The attachments can connect directly to the hose.
